A bit of a cause célèbre as Hudson claimed to have sent a copy to President Bush Jr. (his first NYer story began with a letter to Bush Sr.), receiving in return from the President a letter with negative statements about the book. The White House amazingly went so far as to deny the story, and later Hudson had to admit that he had fabricated it all.
