Twenty-six of the artist's work are shown in color in the catalogue (pp. 47-69). Kees is best known where artists are known at all for his poetry, but he was also jazz musician and for a short period an abstract expressionist painter; he was a movie critic, one of the first serious jazz critics and briefly an art critic for THE NATION. A printed card laid in (Aspen Institute) conveying the book and signed by Dana Gioia who is acknowledged on the copyrights page.
