Fischl is a New York-based artist, known for his figurative paintings; he is a Fellow at both the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Science. He is married to the painter April Gornik. Enrico Navarro as a gallerist is noted for his publications on and promotion of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
