THUMBNAILING THE HILEX [Gabberjabs 3]; The third in a/the series, interminable gabberjabs

[Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin]: Perishable Press, 1974. First Edition. Paperback. Single pamphlet-sewn signature in a soft paper wrapper of Canson MI-Teintes; [20 pp]. Approx. 15 x 7 1/2 inches. Illustrated by Jack Beals. This copy specially (in his beautiful calligraphic if whimsical hand) inscribed by Hamady to a prominent poet. The title refers to the process of pinching the leaf from its stem. On the title page, a Jack Beal drawing of a grapeleaf is placed within Hamady's parody of a state fair ribbon, described as the Wild Grapeleaf Picking Association Blue Mounds Township Grandprize. The text on the subject of picking grape leaves contains Hamady's usual playful language and witty footnotes [from Univ. Wisconsin library description]. COLOPHON: "This 3rd Gabberjabs is the sixty ninth book since starting in 1964 and as always, has given another adventure witness to the dangers of Smugness vs Humble Clear Action. The aim was for an edition of 125 but on account of so much playing around with glue & cutting dies & ink there is a shortage for which we apologize if nothing seems to make a sense without heavy-duty Reader participation." From an edition of approximately 125. Fine. Item #15246

Price: $3,250.00
