Laid in is a typed, signed letter to Ford: "I have much to thank you for. The ms. you criticized for me a couple of years ago, revised in light of your criticisms has found a home." He mentions Knopf's poetry program and having heard Hecht, Van Duyn, Strand and Merwin read "from their recent books". Moritz although born and educated in the US has spent his working life in Toronto. Not well-known in the U. S. he is one of Canada's finest poets having won the Governor General's Award and in 2004 Poetry magazine's Bess Hokin Award.
