Price: $135.00
Publisher Location: New York
Publisher: Macmillan
Year Published: 1974
Book Condition: Near fine
Edition: First edition
First edition. Inscribed: "For Ray Roberts/ The Friendship of John Beecher" and dated April 25, 1974. Roberts was Beecher's editor at Macmillan, so an excellent association. Beecher was raised in Birmingham, Al, the son of a steel executive, and a descendent of the abolitionist Beechers; he was one of the most notable poet/journalists writing about social injustice. He spent much of his adult life (absent the ten years he was blacklisted) teaching in California. A near fine copy in a like dust jacket with a crease on the front flap, and a small closed tear. Cheaply (so called perfect bound) made, thus somewhat uncommon in this condition; nice association.
