Typed letter of over 250 words typed and additional PS of 19 in the author's hand; signed "Seamus", on the author's stationary. A letter to a book dealer with excellent personal (and professional life of the famous poet) content in that Heaney refers to his reading Ted Hughes's letters: "he...thinks twice in some of his most private, spontaneous letters. I'm glad to say this kind of caution/precaution is something I've been free of most of my life, but when I get a letter like the one you write concerning Derek's [Walcott] archive, I ask myself if I haven't been too blithe in that regard." Letter folded three times for mailing; housed in a cloth box with letter label.
