8vo. Cloth edition. Introduction by Maxwell Geismar. Spine with slight discoloring (glue?), else fine in a bright dust jacket with wrinkled back panel and a couple of smudge marks. A selection from previous collections. Scarce hardcover edition of this activist 's vision of America from the Great depression through the Vietnam War. Geismar describes him as "The Last Abolitionist". Protest poetry, political poetry and narrative poetry are not particularly popular these days, but John Beecher's protests sadly seem as as necessary today as when he wrote them.
